Fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Fall in the Blue Ridge Mountains is unlike any other season, with ridgelines turning gold and crimson and the air sharpening with the first real chill of the year. The Asheville Region 

The Cliffs at Walnut Cove sits just minutes from downtown Asheville, close enough for an evening out but private enough to feel like a world apart. Fall here means crisp mornings on the Jack Nicklaus Signature course, foliage settling over the ridgelines, and a run of member events that carries the season from September through Halloween. 

Yappy Hour: Dog Day at the Pool | The Cliffs at Walnut Cove | September 26

Before the pool closes for the season, members and their four-legged companions are invited to make the most of one last warm-weather afternoon. Dogs take to the water for a round of splashing and play while their owners catch up poolside, making it a relaxed, social send-off to summer for the whole family, pets included.

Oyster Fest | The Cliffs at Walnut Cove | October 10 

A beloved annual tradition, Oyster Fest brings together fresh oysters sourced from across the U.S. and Canada alongside a full feast from land and sea. It’s one of the club’s most anticipated fall gatherings, drawing members out for an evening built around good food, good company, and the kind of easy hospitality that defines life at Walnut Cove.

Halloween Trivia Night | The Cliffs at Walnut Cove | October 28 

This themed trivia night puts a spooky spin on the club’s regular happy hour, with questions pulled from classic Halloween movies and seasonal traditions. Teams compete for bragging rights in a lighthearted, costume-optional evening that rounds out the community’s October calendar.

The Lake Region 

The Cliffs three communities, Keowee Falls, Keowee Vineyards, and Keowee Springs, carry fall differently than the mountain communities. The water stays active later into the season, and the surrounding ridgelines turn color while the lake itself remains a gathering point for members well past summer’s end.

Pasta & Pinot | The Cliffs at Keowee Falls | September 19, November 14 

An evening built around house-made pasta and a thoughtfully selected lineup of wines, Pasta & Pinot draws members together for the kind of unhurried dinner that rewards good conversation as much as good food. With two dates on the calendar, it bookends the fall season at Keowee Falls.

Car Show | The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards | October 11 

Keowee Vineyards hosts a fall car show featuring a wide range of vehicles, along with food and live music. It’s a casual, family-friendly gathering that brings members out to admire the cars and enjoy the afternoon.

Bourbon Club | The Cliffs at Keowee Springs | September 19, October 10, November 14

Bourbon Club returns for three sessions this fall, each pairing a curated selection of bourbons with light bites in a relaxed setting. It’s become a recurring favorite for members looking for a low-key evening centered on good pours and better company.

The Mountain Region 

Glassy, Valley, and Mountain Park sit higher in the Blue Ridge foothills above Greenville, where fall arrives with cooler air and dramatic fall foliage. Each community’s fall calendar leans into that setting, with events built around the course, the views, and the season itself.

Rock the Fairway Concert | The Cliffs at Valley | September 26

Live music takes over the first fairway at Valley, with members settling in for an evening of food, drinks, and a set list meant for kicking back outdoors as the fall air sets in.

Harvest Moon Fest | The Cliffs at Glassy | October 3 

Set against Glassy’s mountaintop backdrop, Harvest Moon Fest brings members together under the stars for live music and seasonal fare. It’s one of the community’s larger fall gatherings, marked by the kind of vibrant, neighborly energy that defines club life at Glassy.

Fairway Wine Dinner | The Cliffs at Mountain Park | October 20 

An elegant, multi-course dinner staged along the fairways of the Gary Player-designed course, the Fairway Wine Dinner pairs each course with a carefully chosen wine. It’s a refined evening built for members who want fall entertaining done well.
